Clinical Hypnotherapy
How can hypnotherapy help you?
Clinical Hypnotherapy is a safe, natural and solution focused therapy.
I work with the following assumptions
1. Every personal challenge has something to teach us.
2. Each of us has the solutions to our problems inside and access to the resources needed in order to bring change into our lives.
3. Just as every problem has been learned. we can learn the solution.
I usually work with clients over an initial period of four sessions. The time in the sessions is divided between counseling and hypnosis work. I make use of many tools in order to help you make the changes you choose.
Therapeutic paths
There are three core therapeutic paths available within hypnotherapy. I practice an integrated form of hypnotherapy that makes use of all three paths.
1. Parts therapy
Every person has many parts. We experience our parts through feelings and internal voices. Most people have experienced the sensation of having parts in conflict with one another. A healthy psychological foundation is the result of our parts being integrated and working towards a unified goal.
Parts therapy theory states that every behaviour in which we engage is created and controlled by one part of us. Behind every behaviour lies a positive intention, something that the behaviour in question is 'giving us'.
Parts therapy involves facilitating a communication process between a client's parts in which the (often unconscious) positive intention is brought to consciousness, new positive behaviours are created and a positive integration between parts is negotiated.
2. Regression therapy
Deep within our mind, we remember everything. As conditioned beings, experiences result in the forming of beliefs, emotions and behaviours.
Under hypnosis, one can regress the mind back in time. Regression is a form of "intensified" remembering. The details of past events that can be recalled under trance are quite fascinating. It is often the case that people can remember memories under hypnosis that they normally cannot access at all.
Within regression therapy, the client is regressed back to the incidents that lie at the root of personal challenges in the present time. As a result, unconscious emotional patterns are made conscious. Subsequent therapeutic work involves processing unresolved emotions from the past in order to bring change into the present.
3. Goal directed work
Goal directed hypnotherapy aims to bring a desired life change in the future through working with the mind in the now.
Albert Einstein himself once said "your imagination is the preview of your life experience". The internal thoughts and pictures that occupy our mental space in the present are a template of our behaviour patterns in the future.
Goal directed work involves clearly isolating the steps required towards the successful achievement of a goal. We look at the blocks present in the now and the processes necessary in order to work towards the goal, one step at a time.
This work involves working with underlying belief structures, thoughts and emotions and creative visualisation exercises. Desired life changes are brought into our external experience through the process of creating the necessary internal changes.
Homework and self hypnosis
Homework assignments form an integral part of the therapy. You will also learn self hypnosis, a tool that many people have found invaluable as they continue to learn more about themselves.
Undergoing a course in hypnotherapy involves coming to a deeper understanding of oneself and the way in which the mind works. Clients often receive valuable life insights that profoundly change their perception of the events that happen around them.
Hypnotherapy addresses problems at the place in which they are created; the human mind. As every problem originates within the mind, hypnotherapy can be helpful for almost everyone. I can work with all conditions except for cases of schizophrenia, severe psychosis, manic depression and suicidal tendancies.
